Behold the horde! … and the The Orc Clan Name Generator!

Whether by the horns of Mordor, the drums of Orgrimmar, the calls of WAAAHH, or the sacred chant of a long and storied tribe amidst any of the thousands of fantasy worlds, the orcs are called to battle once more!

This generator has been rallied together for fans of the orc! … Whether it be lovers of fantasy, Dungeons and Dragons players, tabletop RPG enthusiasts, World of Warcraft players, fantasy fiction writers, war gamers, roleplayers, video gamers, or creative conjurers of another clan, a strike of the button will invoke one of millions of combinations for your OWN orc clan!

Orcs have been long described in early literature and media as a strong, brutish, and battle-hardened people amidst a world of various foes. However, both the origins and legacy of orcs have a much deeper history. “Orc” is an Anglo-Saxon word long thought to be derived from the Latin name Orcus, which resembles Pluto as the god of the underworld. Earliest uses were similar to the ancient word for “spectre”, such as in the tale Beowolf (orcneas meaning “evil spirit”). It was not until Tolkien’s “The Hobbit” and “The Lord of the Rings” that it was fully paired with “goblin” as a race of feared humanoid creatures.

In time, through various other tales, authors, and fantastical worlds, orcs became characterized as muscular humanoids with large canines, flat-noses, and skin tones ranging from green to grey.

They have become a staple of fantasy fiction, table-top gaming, movies, and video games. Orcs are often depicted as proud, strong, and free-roaming, ready to fight for their kin against any foe which challenges them, with plenty an appetite, and a lust for the simple things (fighting included)!

With an inventory pulled from across the English lexicon, this generator assembles a collection of words that invoke the power and identity of a clan of orcish warriors, factions of orc families, and legacies paid with sacrifice. An assembly of evocative adjectives, clan titles, primal concepts, powerful verbs, and compound names that drip with the blood of one enemies. All clan names invoke something strong, unyielding, and fearful to those who dare oppose it.

Is yours a clan of hearty nomad traders in the tundra? Or a fierce raider group scouring the countryside? A shadowy cabal stooped in ancient magic rituals? Perhaps it serves as a collection of families and bloodlines that define the traditions of your orc or half-orc character, whether they are ones to honor, or ones to break from. … All possibilities are at your fingertips, and at the tip of your spear!

As a longtime dungeon master, old-school Warcraft player, and a reader of fantasy novels, capturing Orc Clan names was the logical next step in my campaign of creating fun and useful random name generators. If you enjoy using this tool, I’d love it if you bookmarked this page, and consider using it in your campaign, game, or story.

Just press the button, and build your orc clan today!!

I like this one. This comes up with some pretty funny ones, like “Belching Ash People” or “Babbling Cudgel Pack.” There are other cooler names as well, like “Bat Mountain Clan,” “Fiendish Rock Clan,” and “Blazetank Guardians.” Pretty much ANY of these names would definitely work for any TTRPG, MMORPG, RTS, etc. Excellent job on this!
